Lonsdale's Remote Learning Provision

This page will give you information about Lonsdale's Remote Learning Provision.

Lonsdale School developed its remote provision throughout the Covid-19 pandemic from February 2020 onwards. The 'Student Area' of our website is a secure area with dedicated tabs for each class group. Daily Home Learning Plans are uploaded for pupils who are not able to attend school for a variety of reasons. Weekly set homework tasks can also be found there.

You can find our Remote Learning Policy and further information at the bottom of this page.

Please contact Andy Perrett (DHT) at aperrett@lonsdale.herts.sch.uk with any questions or feedback regarding Remote Learning.

Non-statutory guidance from the Department for Education on providing high-quality remote education

There is non-statutory guidance from the Department for Education on providing high-quality remote education in cases where it is not possible, or is contrary to government guidance, for some or all pupils to attend school.

This guidance can be found here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/providing-remote-education-guidance-for-schools/providing-remote-education-guidance-for-schools

Through our remote learning provision we aim to:

  • teach a planned and well-sequenced curriculum so that knowledge and skills are built incrementally
  • use a curriculum sequence that allows access to high-quality online and offline resources and teaching videos and that is linked to the school’s curriculum expectations
  • give access to high quality remote education resources
  • select the online tools that will be consistently used across the school in order to allow interaction, assessment and feedback and make sure staff are trained and knowledgable in their use
  • provide printed resources, such as textbooks and workbooks, for pupils who do not have suitable online access
  • recognise that all Lonsdale pupils have SEND and may require support and facilitation to access remote education and therefore work closely with our families to support the delivery of a broad and ambitious curriculum for all our learners
  • support pupils, families and carers in various ways to be able to access remote learning also through providing hardware, software and specialist advice
  • continue to work holistically and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

Thank you for supporting our school and your child with their remote learning!
