Clubs

At Lonsdale we offer a variety of lunchtime and after-school clubs. All pupils have the opportunities and are encouraged to try clubs that are of interest.

After-School Clubs may incur a charge. For further information please contact our admin team.

At the beginning of a new school year, lunchtime clubs will commence by half term.

We are also working on further expanding our after-school club offer during 2025-2026.

Sports Club

Lunchtime Sports Clubs are run by our Sports team.  Different activities are available across the week. Football Club is attended by a lot of Lonsdale pupils and is played inclusively, so everyone is able to join in and enjoy it. Football Club runs daily in the football ground or in the Hall.

Choir

The Choir meets in the Music Room. It is open to anyone who enjoys singing.  Our members come from all age groups and we sing a mixture of popular, traditional and seasonal songs.  It is a good opportunity for pupils of different ages and abilities to work together.  Sometimes we prepare pieces to perform to the rest of the school or in assemblies and concerts when parents and visitors are invited. Choir does not run every term.

Film Club

The club promotes and develops working with others, making choices, sharing, communicationation and social interaction skills. Film Club is run by secondary-aged pupils for their peers.

Dance Club

Dance Club is enjoyed by many pupils of all ages. It takes place in the Hall.

Cooking Club

Pupils attend on a rota and are taught/assisted with cooking the recipes. It takes place in the Food Room. Cooking Club does not run every term.

Social Communication Group for VOCA Users

This group runs from an allocated classroom allowing pupils to practise communicating socially using their devices. The club is supported by a volunteer, who is a former Lonsdale student and a device user.

After-School Clubs

At Lonsdale we aim to provide after-school Sports Clubs.  We work closely with Hertfordshire based clubs including the Hertfordshire Cricket Association, the Golf Trust, Wheelchair Dance Association, Hertfordshire LTA and the Herts Sport and Wellbeing Foundation who provide us with qualified coaches to lead our sessions. Lonsdale School also have their own team trained to deliver rebound sessions.

Sessions are fun and accessible to all students from both school and the local community.  Students access local facilities where possible so that they can also experience sport outside of Lonsdale.

During the previous school year, we have trialled a wide range of non-sports clubs, which our pupils had suggested, such as Karaoke, Games, Creative, Gardening and Science Club. We are currently seeking feedback from our pupils to help us inform the after-school club offer for 2025-2026.
