Lego® @ Lonsdale

Introducing LEGO® Learning

Whether in the classroom or at home, children have big imaginations, innate curiosity, and a desire to explore and take risks. Whilst exploring and using Lego® educational resources, they practise important skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, coding and creativity.

LEGO® Learning is an intuitive, inclusive and highly adaptable learning approach. It future-proofs pupils’ skills, and makes them confident life-long learners by giving them unlimited possibilities for hands-on, playful STEAM learning equipping them with 21st-century skills..

STEAM learning is an educational approach that uses Science (including Computing), Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

LEGO® Education Solutions are designed to be flexible, cross-curricular tools that ignite curiosity and integrate easily into the classroom. LEGO® Learning lesson plans provide a variety of learning experiences, including guided learning and problem-solving lessons that relate directly back to pupils’ real-life questions and observations. Assessment options built in to the lessons help make sure that assessment happens during learning.

Early Learning Is Where It Starts

We strive to help prepare young children for life by building their social skills, and for them to begin their STEAM journey early on. We want to build on their skills and stimulate their curiosity. LEGO® Learning resources for our youngest learners boots their passion for learning and give endless opportunities to explore, play and learn.

Inspiring Lifelong Learners

LEGO® Education solutions for primary-aged pupils provide the engaging, hands-on experiences students need to explore core STEM concepts and link them to real-life phenomenon. LEGO® bricks, programming tools, and supporting lesson plans for teachers ignite pupils’ natural curiosity, helping them develop essential communication, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking-skills in a fun and exciting way. Tactile, flexible solutions grow with students as they problem-solve and discover how science, technology, engineering, and math affect their everyday life.

With LEGO® Education’s curriculum tools and sets, primary students:

  • Learn to investigate problems and find possible solutions
  • Build collaboration and communication skills as they share their learning processes with their peers
  • Learn to see failure as a form of information gathering
  • Develop an understanding of how parts work together to create a whole

Build Pupils' Skills for Any Challenge

Hands-on LEGO® Learning is a universal language and LEGO® Education solutions for secondary school grow with students as they engage at every level, providing hands-on experiences that stimulate communication, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. When students learn with LEGO® bricks, coding tools, and supporting lesson plans for teachers, they ignite their natural curiosity and sharpen their scientific inquiry, engineering design, develop coding, computing skills and data analysis skills — so they can succeed in their STEM classes today and realize their full potential as digital citizens and leaders tomorrow.

With LEGO Education’s curriculum tools and sets, secondary students:

  • Use different reasoning approaches to evaluate evidence and develop theories
  • Create and work with data to solve problems and draw conclusions
  • Learn to identify problems and use appropriate tools to find and communicate solutions
  • Refine their use of science and engineering practices to solve problems, hone ideas, and evaluate solutions

At Lonsdale School, we use LEGO® Learning and LEGO® Education solutions to enhance STEAM learning in all phases.
