Work Related Learning
Work related learning is important at Lonsdale. In the 6th form students like to work together to set up their own company, guided every step of the way by a the staff team, a Business Adviser, and the business manager Mr Allam.
Running their own company encourages the students to work together, interact with adults and grow in confidence as they set up and run their own enterprise company , which is named by the students. Past experiences include being able to trade at school events and to run a tuck shop on a Friday. I wonder what this year will hold for the Lonsdale 6th form.
As well as running their own business, the 6th form (and some members of key stage 4 ) take part in a WRL week, where each student has a bespoke timetable. This include on site and off site work placements, as well as visiting speakers coming into school.
Lonsdale students also link with Marriotts school for WRL learning days. Where they learn about business, and interview techniques amongst other life skills.
